Want some help controlling those pests? Sure you do, and there are so many tips available regarding what you can do on our own. With your familys help, you guys will eliminate most if not all of the pest control problems in your home. Get started now with these helpful hints.

Do you have a problem with fruit flies? You can get rid of them with a little apple cider vinegar! Pour some vinegar into the bottom of a tall glass. Add a little bit of dish soap. The fruit flies will swim into the glass, but wont be able to swim out, and will drown.

Begin where it started. That means getting rid of what attracted the pests in the first place. Pests enter homes when they find water, food, or shelter to use. Look for and eliminate any leaks, food scraps, and entry points into your home.

Look for possible entry points around your home. Bugs and animals can be very creative when it comes to breaking into your home. If you have noticed a new problem, it is possible that they found a new way in. Take a look around the outside and interior home and seal any possibly entryways for pests.

If you had bedbugs and think theyre gone, be wary. Bedbugs are able to get as long as a year without food. So be sure to close any holes in the floors and walls. Then they wont be able to hide out there.

People that are experiencing trouble with pests that fly need to fix up every screen where they live. Not only do they keep out the flying pests, but they help to keep out small crawling insects as well. If you have any holes in your screens, fix them so the bugs cannot get in.

Install a cap on your chimney to prevent birds, squirrels and other nuisances from entering. Not only do these animals nests present a fire hazard, but the critters themselves can carry lice and other parasites. The cap acts as a barricade, keeping intruders out while allowing smoke to pass through.

Be sure to close up any openings by which rodents could enter your home. This is especially important before winter, when rodents will be looking for a warm spot to take shelter. Look for cracks and holes of all sizes around the windows, vents and foundation of your home. Some small rodents need less than a quarter inch to squeeze into your home.

Use hairspray to get rid of flying insects. It is safe for humans and pets, but not so much for flying insects. Hairspray makes them incapable of getting food and water by sticking to their bodies. This is great if you have an insect like a bee, and youre trying to stay far away.

Make sure that all of your windows and doors have mesh screens. Make sure that all the screens are in securely and are repaired if necessary. Be sure to use a fine mesh for screens as this is a larger deterrent for pests. Check your door and window seals as well for any points of entry.

Have ants? Use lemons. Ants dislike the scent of lemons. Therefore, start using lemon-scented products, or actual lemons, to get rid of them. Try pouring lemon-scented oil along the perimeters of the rooms in your home. Use lemon-scented products to wipe up in the kitchen. You will soon notice that ants avoid you.

Are you ready to take action? Its time to go to war! See, this can be fun, and its time to take back your home on your own two feet. Its nice taking care of things yourself, and pest control will now be something that you have accomplished on your own.
